with the engine in back Porches should be great in the snow. you just need good skinny front tires.

Well to be fair, at was light at the time I took this pic. But it did start coming down harder. Most porker owners won't even take their cars out after October. So to see one out in winter, when conditions aren't perfect, is a spectacle.

i saw the snow and then noticed the plate and I think i hurt my neck turning around so fast to see if it is snowing out

We don't take our 911 out past November because it isn't galvanized(1974 cars aren't), my 944 on the other hand, stays out until first either first snowfall with salt on the roads or driving insurance is removed in mid-late November.

Michigan uses a crap ton of salt.

These cars can easily be driven in the winter no problem, it's just that salt is our kryptonite. Hell, if they didn't use salt here, I'd still be driving my 944 around.

Gotcha. Yeah, Boston doesn't put as much salt on the roads as Michigan, put its still pretty prevalent. My 3.2 is galvanized but I will not be putting it on the road past Fall. That's what the E92 is for.

They did minimal galvanizing in the earlier years, but the whole bodies weren't galvanized until 1976. My 944 is galvanized but I'm not risking it either. That's what the combined forces of the FoST and Magnum are for.

Yessir, the proud owner of a '86 Carrera 3.2 shell. It's going to be a RSR Backdate Hotrod by the time it's finished. The plan is to have it done by September, so long as I can scrape together the funds. Here she is as she sits now:

Body work starts in the next week or two, or as soon as we break out of this cold snap.

What color is that though? Usually I'm very good at identifying older Porsche colors, but that doesn't look like Zermatt Silver... Will you be repainting back to what I assume is the original color?

Thanks! Honestly, I'm not sure what the color code is for the car. I tried a VIN decoder, but none of the decoders for older VIN numbers include the color. I would check the paint code sticker but the car is actually at my mechanics body shop now. The entire build is being done by MC Racing in Needham, MA. As much as it will infuriate some of the purists, I will actually be repainting it a different color. I'm repainting it Bahama Blue/ Acid Blau, which was a special order OEM color option for the 1974 models. Im a lurker on both Pelicanparts and Rennlist, and have accounts on both which I completely forgot the usernames for. I find them to be great sources of information, but don't need to use them too much because Maurizio (Owner of MC Racing) is like an encyclopedia on Porsches. He's been racing and restoring 911's for close to two of my lifetimes.

Are there any visible stickers or badges or plates left on the car? If so, there are some sites that can decode some info for you. The color won't be included on the VIN, but on our '74, it's located on a badge/plate on the inner driver's door sill closest to the fuel door.

Bahama blue is a lovely color! I've never seen a 911 of any kind with this color yet. I wouldn't say the purist(such as myself to an extent) will be infuriated, but they will be a bit ticked off that you used a special order color hehe.
